SUMMER RESEARCH FOR UNDERGRADUATES AT BLAISE-PASCAL
UNIVERSITY
OU CBME
students can fulfill Honors Research or Senior Research
courses by doing research
in the summer (May 15 to August 1) in the Department
of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering at Blaise
Pascal University, Clermont-Ferrand, France. Training
in French is not a requirement since all the professors
there speak English. It would be helpful, however,
for you to take a French course or courses before
going, or you could receive French training in Clermont-Ferrand.
Housing
for OU students is arranged by Blaise Pascal University
in one of the university residence halls.
The cost is approximately €150 per month for
a single room ($187.50/month at $1.25/€). There
are four university restaurants with self-service
and five cafeterias available to students at Blaise
Pascal University. The cost is approximately €200
per month ($250/month) for eating all meals at the
university restaurants or cafeterias.

GRADUATE DOUBLE DEGREE PROGRAM AT BLAISE-PASCAL
AND OU
OU CBME
students can simultaneously obtain an M.S. degree
from OU and an Engineer degree
from Blaise Pascal University in approximately two
years through a newly established program. The requirements
are as follows:
- Three required graduate courses taken at OU (transport
phenomena, kinetics and thermodynamics). These
can be taken for graduate credit while completing
the
undergraduate chemical engineering degree
- Four
elective courses taken at Blaise Pascal University
- Research
at Blaise Pascal University
A course in French should be taken at OU before
traveling to Clermont-Ferrand. An intensive course
in French will be offered at Blaise Pascal University
in July or August before enrollment for those students
who desire to take one.
A stipend from Blaise Pascal
University covers room and board.
