Undergraduate students in CBME are assigned advisors
based on where they are in our curriculum, not the
number of hours at OU. When your class entered OU,
a faculty member was assigned as its advisor. Your
advisor will stay with your class until it graduates.
By doing this, he or she will get to know you and will get
to know the special situations being encountered by
you and other students in your class. We believe this
gives you better advising and keeps you from losing
time unnecessarily on your progress toward graduation.
Assignments are made according to where the student
is in the CBME curriculum rather than by total hours
taken. Transfer students who have not taken any Chemical
Engineering courses should see the Freshman Adviser;
those that have taken some Chemical Engineering
courses should see the Sophomore Adviser.
Note that CBME courses are taught only once per year or every two years. Not taking a chemical engineering course when it is offered will usually delay graduation by a full year.

Your advisor will check your selection and go over any questions or concerns you have. Your adviser will complete advising verification on Degree Navigator. Call or e-mail Williams Student Services Center at 325-4096 to have the advising stop lifted. You can then go online to complete enrollment. Some courses may require special permission forms. These are available in the department office, SEC, T-335. The special permission forms must be signed by the course instructor and taken to the office of the department offering the class that requires the special permission.
